Since you brought it up, with existing power locks, can you just tie the existing mechanisms in with a remote controller?
If anything I'd expect the solenoids to be the cheap piece that would fail, if all you had to do was wire in the controller, that would seem an ideal solution.
Yeah that's kinda what I'm thinking, no need to mess with the stock solenoids and rods. I'm going to order up a kit and see how it goes. My doors have been replaced so I have a little bit longer harness than stock.
I've had a Code Alarm put on my truck right after I bought it 20 years ago. Still works fine. And it had a 2nd control so I went w/ remote windows. I would do the remote start instead next time.

Definitely post up your results. I hadn't really considered it until you mentioned, but now it makes sense if it's practical.
When it's really dark, you can't find the keyhole, when it's raining you don't want to stand there messing with keys, when it freezes sometimes the lock doesn't work right, etc.
The kit and the k5 are gathering dust . Winter never showed up down here and the boats been getting all my free time here lately. I got to get it out and drive it some.
