Ive been through two ford remote solenoids in the last month, but keep frying them. I had a small fuel leak so i was kinda tough on them. They would get stuck on and tried to kill my starter. So my question is, i need a heavy duty remote solenoid for the starter? Any ideas? I did a search but only came up with the ford fender mounted ones.

depends on the money ya wanna spend, they run anywhere from $15 to $100+.....

Well i just want one that I never have to worry about.

I did just find this tho, maybe that was my problem

"The only snaffu I can see is that the Ford solenoid needs to be mounted with the lugs horizontal and as plumb as possible. The reason is it is a magnetically operated switch that is meant to run on an even plane. It will work for a while but it puts a substantial load on the switch to have to work up hill or down hill. (meaning being mounted not level) Eventually the switch will get stuck either open or closed.

Why not keep the factory solenoid and forget it? They fail about once in ten years or so if that. Not to mention that using a remote solenoid like your doing, the factory solenoid still has to be kept in operation or the starter doesn't work anyway.
