remote solenoid install-help somethings wrong

Everything looks right according to nova resource and third gen.org. Went to hook up the battery and got an a$$load of sparks and the solenoid engaging/dis-engaging rapidly.

I've got power from the battery to the BAT terminal,from the BAT terminal to the starter(then jumped to the "s"terminal on the starter via a jumper strip),all wires originally on the large starter terminal are also on the BAT terminal on the solenoid. The purple starter wire to the "s"terminal on the solenoid.The NEG battery cable is grounded to the frame.

Did I overlook something? The solenoid is an AC Delco unit p/n un939,I think,which is mounted on the firewall next to the A/C box.Also have engine ground from the rear of the pass.side head to the firewall.

I don't see why this isn't working.Your help is appreciated greatly,guys.Thanks
 
Not sure without looking at it, but I can tell you what it happening. When you hook it up, the solenoid fires. When it fires, the positive cable from the battery is getting hooked straight to ground. That causes the sparks. When that happens, just for a second the battery voltage gets sucked so low that the solenoid releases. That lets the battery recover in a half second or so, which refires the solenoid and the whole cycle repeats.
One of the big lugs on the solenoid should have the positive cable from the battery and anything else that should stay hot.
The other big lug should have things that you want to run when the solenoid fires.
One of the wires hooked to it has to be a ground sounds like.
Try removing all those wires and hooking up the battery. If nothing sparks, touch the wires one at a time to the other post.
When large amounts of sparks happen, that wire should not be hooked there.
