Remote start/alarm

If it is anything like the 84 i had, the remote start won't work.
The carbureted engines require a pedal push to set the choke and fast idle.

Maybe some more information on your 84?

To set the choke, the gas pedal needs to be depressed.
The fast idle solenoid is not strong enough to do it on it's own.
Then as the engine warms up, the choke needs to release, also a throttle press.
Even the computer controlled Quadrajet my 84 had with an mc solenoid, would not work with a remote start.
The Quadrajet is a fine carburetor.
Setup and adjusted correctly, I got 13 mpg with 3.73's and 33's.
Plenty of power too.
I am sure you could find a way to make a remote start work.
But it isn't plug and play for the carbureted vehicles.

Hope this helps.

I mentioned this to my buddy. I knew he had installed hundreds and hundreds of remote start modules into vehicles. I recalled a few old school rides. He said the old school way is to use a trunk popper after ignition to activate the choke.

Forgot the rest.

He said it had been a long time but he thinks you use a pulse before start output to a relay then to the trunk solenoid, same output may also pulse after it turns off, maybe programmable on some alarms.

He also suggested using an AC idle up solenoid to keep it running. He hadn’t ever done that but said it was a thought to consider.
