Remove dog dish

I was browsing tools that won't scar the wheel too badly and came across this:

Any other methods to removing the hubcaps? I have what appears to be the stock original removal tool but I was looking to see if something a bit more gentle was available.

You find those at most tire stores but a lot of those guys just grab a screwdriver and jab away, the flat end of that tool is just as harsh as a screwdriver (the curve is real helpful though). Your best tool will be a shop rag that's placed under whatever you use.
