i have a very shoddy new '75 project blazer. learning everything from scratch with no previous automotive experience or upbringing around motors (lots to learn). Can anyone bail me out and provide me with both a picture of what the electrical access panel on the fiberglass (full convertable -73-75) looks like so i can try and get one, and how the wiring is routed through the body and connected to the fuse block and grounded through the the door switches.

The wiring is pretty simple really. Two wires enter the top, orange and white. Orange is always hot and is part of the cig lighter circuit. White is switched ground. The door pins are ground switches, and there is another ground switch that is part of the headlight switch.

On the fuse panel it should be labelled "dome".

The most common problem area is the door pin ground switches. They corrode. If they're not too crusty looking you can try a bit of WD40, then work them in and out until they work smoothly. Then rotate them back and forth with your fingers to try and break through the corrosion and you might be lucky like I was and get them working again.

dome switch

thank you so much. i love this site. everyone is so helpful and friendly. i'm afraid at this point i will gain more from this site than i can offer, but i am learning quick. my fuse box doesn't appear to match any diagrams i have seen. i'm pretty sure that some one frankensteined together a bunch of 80's years parts onto a 75 body and frame. so is the dome supposed to switch on when the head light switch is turned to the left, and do you by chance have a picture of the panel that covers the wire access panel. i need to see what it looks like so i can try and find one on ebay or craigslist. i also need to see what the connectors look like. i cant find pics anywhere online. i have spent countless hours on forums and parts websites. LMC doesn't have it either.

Not sure if this helps much, but this is the cover plate for the 76-91 hardtops, I'm pretty sure the 73,4,5 cover plates are similar.

The wiring plugs is a very simple two wire plug, it's not a weatherpack plug.

Ok good, well i bought that panel from a junk yard, but it was off a 76+. i still don't know what the 73-75 looks like. hope it'sthe same. i am not trying to be difficult, i just have a touch of OCD about my "stock restore" it's my only hobby. I wonder if it is different because the opening that the panel in the picture that you showed me came off of, looks very different from the onening on my truck. Mine has a large rectangulat hole that this panel MIGHT mount to, but the 76+ year i took it from had only a small hole opening beneath it. My top has a round rubber orange connector under where i think that panel would go. Also, whats a weatherback? THHHHHAAAAANNNKKKK you by the way! !!!! ! !

When my ground drys out I will try to go get a pic of the one in my 73 top, its currently on the ground awaiting its new home
