Any tips for removing ac suitcase and keeping heater. Also has anyone ran there blower motor on just a toggle switch. I think it will be fine but dont want to start a fire.

You'd need a relay for the blower motor, toggle switch would almost certainly melt.

Two options are to find a donor truck with no AC, and swap pieces (there have been posts on this) or buying something like a Mojave heater that you can mount anywhere.

Or you can modify the stock box to get the majority of it out of the way. I did mine like this w/ a little sheetmetal, silicone & self-tapper sheetmetal screws.

I will have to look for it,but there is a company that sells the plenum for converting an ac truck to non-ac.And you keep your heater. I'llpost it up as soon as I find it.

The best way to do it is to find a truck without a/c and take the heater box, control, ducting, and the wiring and transfer it to your rig. It is probably the cleanest. I also had to fashion a plate for the heater core.

Yeah, but it's a clean way to do it if your worried about asthetics.

if you run the mojave style heater you end up with an almost clean firewall. all that sticks through the firewall is the water tubes. then you just weld in patch panels into the holes for the fan. the mojave style heaters are all self contained.

These Summit automotive heaters are designed to replace that worn-out OEM heater. They use your engine's existing coolant to provide big heat, and they have a 3-speed fan for high, medium, and low settings. The included instructions, wiring, and hardware make installation simple.

I installed one on my 86 Blazer, but I still don't have it all put back together yet. It is still in many pieces in the garage. In this picture I just stuck it up there to see how it fit. I will paint the firewall before I install it for good.

Great thanks all you did was remove the ac dog house fibeglass and install this one no sheet metal work on the fire wall and reused the blower motor from the ac unit. all my ac stuff is gone and staying that way but i like the heater and defroster so thats what im looking at.

The heater only wiring is easily installed , if you have access to any truck from the 70's on .

The harness plugs into ONE black plastic plug near the radio wires ( directly from a/c /heat fuse ) , and then runs through the hole in the dash to the stuff underhood .

That power drop can also be used to draw power for your simple switch .
