Doing a tub swap on my 89 K5 and every nut, bolt, gasket and bracket is coming off to be installed on the nice shiny rust free one. Will be removing everything off the firewall in the next night or so. Was wanting to know if I can remove the AC unit from the engine bay side without disconnecting any lines? Have not had one of these apart but looks like it may be possible? Then remove the rest of the HVAC (heater components) from inside the cab?
Thanks for any insight.

The evaporator is removed from the engine bay side. You remove the side next to the engine and the whole assembly can be removed intact,You will need to get new sealant for the AC clam shells to re install.
