good afternoon,
been a while since I have been on here. About a year ago I smacked my Chevy pretty good. I got the front clip on. Now I need to pull out the airbags. Need to replace both sides. Not too sure how they come apart. Didn't find any videos on YouTube. After I get the airbags in the truck should be ready to go again. Thanks a lot guy

better check with dealer first . last gm truck I helped with had to go to the dealer for reprogram / air bag computer / there a 1 time use I guess on them .

and if you don't know how to play with them DONT a bag going off can do damage if your not in the correct place .

A lot of the air bag system components are one time use items for safety reasons.

I'm never really taken one out before. in that case i will see if I could take it to a body shop. There is a few around here I would think they replace them all the time. Would be great to have my truck back. It's not too bad on gas for V8. I picked up a little Volkswagen for now. I drive about 70 miles to my job. thanks guys I will take a look around see what I find

Airbags really arent very hard to change. Ive had to remove them just to do heater cores in a truck before. Sure you need new ones any should look into what other components may need to be changed but actually changing them is nothing different than changing any other part held in with nuts and bolts...

A lot of body shops use a mobile airbag service, they go from shop to shop doing airbags. You might see if you can get ahold of one. The computer has to be reset after an air bag deploys. The passenger side is pretty straight forward to replace, the driver side has a clock spring that has to be replaced along with the airbag. I use to work in a body shop but it's been awhile.

I got some help from a kid I met. Had the driver's-side airbag done about 20 min. I'm starting to take the dash apart now to get to the passenger side bag. There is two bolts down low. Couldn't find a way to get them so getting ready to pull the dashboard out. At least I got it started. Hopefully I can have this truck back on the road this weekend. thanks for the help guys

good morning guys, driver's-side airbag is done. Passenger-side airbag I got started on. In back of the glovebox there is these two bolts I need to get to. They are in back of this metal plate for some reason. Couldn't reach back there at all. the only other way I can see you get back there is taking the dashboard apart. Looks like a good bit of work to do that. Anyone know a way around that? Very close to done. This truck is almost ready to go again. thanks
