working on removing my intake, everything is removed, unbolted and ready to remove, only thing left is the heater pipe at the back. there is a coupler with a 7/8 on the manifold side and a larger hex (1 inch maybe? not sure)how do I thread this without breaking anythig? is the coupler left hand thread?

squeaze the 2 clips and pop the hose from the quick coupler.

and if you get the quick coupler out toss it out thay leak with age. just install a reg nipple and new length of hose.

Just unthread the heater hose nut from the fitting. This style of fitting is not made of brittle pot metal like the style that uses the snap in hose.

Here are a couple of pictures.

The pipe kinda seems like it is attached to a bracket behind the left valve cover.

The hose simply screws off the "nipple"...right hand (normal) thread

It has a tab on it holding it onto the bracket you mentioned.

When you get it off, remove the nipple and use a standard fittting so you can use "regular" heater hose.

by regular hose, do you mean remove the current setup, put on a nipple and run a length of hose straight to the heaters?

any idea where I can get the nipple?

parts store in the help products section.

and new heater hose for replacement with new clamps.

be vary carefull on removing heater hose from heater core. lots of times its almost glued on over the years of heat.

i cut them off and slice it up the middle and unwrap vary carefully. or you can fubar the nipple. :doah:

Exactly...

something like this...

It is in a Sub with rear heat, so it doesn't go directly to the heater core anyways, and I already have the hose off of the 'Y', the front heater fan hasn't worked for a few years anyways.

I dont have that hookup on mine, one heater core hose goes to the radiator and the other hooks up on the front of the intake manifold... But its an after market one so that must be why, much more convienient though!!

The fan is a 10 minute job...

Really? caue I had to remove the inner wheel well fender to remove one stinkin bolt to remove the fan in my Burb, once that was out, yes it was easy to get to and replace, but still..

Never had that problem with the square bodies...????:dunno::confused:

Oh wait, maybe it was the heater core i was trying to get out, that lower bolt was to get the heater/ac box loose or something,, :doah:

the bottom heater core bolt sucks but i managed to get it with the fender on.

Yes the fan is 3 maybe 4 small bolts, pops off, take the old squirrel cage off very carefully with a pry bar of some sort, or 2 screwdrivers, slip it on the new fan, and throw it in!!:thumb:
