I bought a used truck that had the rockers repaired. So there is a high metallic gold mist on it. It's black with gold on the bottom, and it noticeable when it's freshly washed. I tried a clay bar and it took a lot off, but not all. I could probably use the clay bar again and just really get into it.

Is there an easier way? I hate using buffers. Wet sanding and buffing also sounds scary. I guess I have had bad experiences in the past. Or should I just pay to have a pro do it?

a light color sanding should take it right off, BUT I would pay the money and have a detailer do it. The money spent will be less then fixing paint.

1000 grit and a wheel... easy peezy lemon squeezy.........

I do this stuff for a living. Since you have no idea how thick the clear coat is, start with a 3M Trizact pad. It is 3000 grit. Very wet. If that does not remove it, go to 2000 wet. Then use a name brand 2 step polishing system. I use 3M for this also.

Go to an automotive paint store to get this stuff. CheckerOriellyAutozone crap does not work.

so did i..... :D

i dont use ANYTHING over 1000.. waste of time imo, it's like notebook paper... not a finish out there that can't take 1000 wetsand and buff imo... :grind::haha:

but then again I've been running a buffer for about 30 yrs... :doah::o ran a detail company for 5 yrs, yada, yada...

as always a thank you for the continued support of such a fine company as 3M! dad's pension appreciates it! :wink1:
