Is this posi removable?

posi.jpg

I want to replace it with a lock-right for better traction. I`m also wondering, since the axles are the same spline, if I could put the posi unit up front. I`m not sure if the rear axle being a C Clip axle will prevent it or not. TIA

Yes, it is removable. The cross pin has to come out first, then the spring pack, and then the C-clips will come off the axle shafts.
In order to use a Lock-right, you will have to come up with an open carrier.
To put it up front, re-install the spring pack(fun), then the cross pin, and you're set. The cross pin will act as a locater for the axle shaft on the inner side, just as the spindle acts as a locater on the outer side.

ive got a open carrier if you want it....just pm me.

OR you could swap the posi into the front, put the front carrier into the back and THEn put the lockright init. which btw yuo will be happy with:D

of course you will hten have to reset up your gears etcetcetc.

What does resetting the gears consit of? And is swapping front and rear carriers doable? Its the carrier you have for a 30 spline?

if you swap carriers it *should* just have to use different shims. between the carrier bearign races and housings.

imo i would even touch it...id just swap em put all back together. and see what happens :D but then again...i just kinda ad-lib stuff.

can anyone confirm this? would swappin front and rear carriers just require different shims?

Jimbo - so there are clutches on each sides of the spring pack? and if I put it up front it doesn`t need them?

No, the clutches are between the side gears and the carrier. You need to re-install the spring pack to put it up front--you just won't need the "c-clips"
anymore (up front).
