I had a co. install a windshield for me and they jacked up the location of the rear view mirror, they aren't calling back.

Anyone know of a good way to remove the "button" without breaking my new windshield?

Heat gun. http://www.harborfreight.com/1500-watt-dual-temperature-heat-gun-572-1112-96289.html

Put a towel on your dash. Don't catch the button when it drops....it will be hot :haha:

There should be a dot on teh windshield where the button goes, i think.....

Then get the adhesive from kragen, and when you do it, follow the directions, and one drop means one drop.....

Thanks also, was my original idea just didn't know if the heat gun would work, this guy used some nice two part contact type cement.

When you replace it, use nothing but the special rear view mirror stuff, or it will fall off.

If he didn't use the mirror adhesive stuff, and just regular 2 part cement, i bet it comes off easy. If he was a glass guy, i bet he used the right stuff....which is also 2 part.

He installs glass for a living,he used the right stuff. Think a heat gun will work???

I put a newer mirror on mine, and used the heat gun to take the old (factory i think) one off. Took a min or 2, and it fell right off.
