What's the best way to remove the side molding that's glued onto the sheetmetal? I don't care about messing up the paint but I do care about saving the sheetmetal and not damaging it in the process. Doesn't look like those things were meant to come off.

I don't know if it is different between years but on my 82 i just pryied(sp) up a corner and pulled, it came off and did not mess up the metal, i am not sure how it would but i just pulled. hope this helps,
sergio

The best way to do it is to get your handy heatgun, (or the significant other's hairdryer), and heat it up about a foot at a time, and peel away the heated sections. After you are done, go to Napa and get a quart of "adhesive remover", or "TecClean", and wipe the residue away.

If you dont damage the molding too badly, what do you plan to do with it? It is hard to find a molding set without paying GM an arm and a leg.

I just peeled that molding off of a door that I picked up from a friend. I just grabbed one end and peeled it off like tape.

It's a great day to be alive...

It's only the molding on the right fender and right quarter panel, the rest is either missing or bent beyond belief. In short, I'm just going to toss it (unless someone wants to pay for the shipping cost).

LMC has the moulding, <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.lmctruck.com>http://www.lmctruck.com</A>
