So my K30 is getting some much needed attention this week. Over time it has slowly developed a bit of a rake. Some I have to reweld the traction bar mount I pondered removing a few leaves to level it and possibly soften/gain flex. They are the stock k30 springs with a ez inch added to it in the plus 1.5" setting. I was thinking of removing the bottom 2 small leaves but wondered about the over loads. I have heard they help prevent reversing the spring but with minimal rear weight I suspect that won't be a concern. Thoughts?

How many leaves?

You can find a pack from a 3/4 ton Burb, they are 7 leaf plus overload. Mine ride real nice.

I say that cause I'm not a fan of removing leaves. The lower ones hold up the truck and the longer ones is what gives it a smooth ride. Remove either and it tends to do worse. (Though I'm sure enough people would disagree and that's ok, I haven't been around the entire block yet)

I removed leaves from my 56s. I had to because my front springs are tired so I had to make it level. I pulled the 3 and 4 springs from the bottom (overload). I wanted the smaller, harder to bend springs still in the pack on the bottom to keep the springs curvy. I left the overload in there and highly recommend keeping it or youll end up buying springs again like I did lol.

Youre definitely about the spring function. I had to make do with what I have but I full intend on getting to the point of running all 7 springs.

I also run the overload but upside down. It acts like a "bumpstop" and levels out the truck nicely with my zero rate. I'm not afraid of reverse arching, want all the travel I can get, but it stops once the flipped overload is hit, which is good.

This is just temporary tell I can find lighter 56s or buy ord springs. I still have 1 more year of college so money is a little tight.

The 57s I have are 4+1 overload. Surprisingly they havnt settled down a bunch. So I don't think the weight issue is a big deal as long as you have bump stops setup.

I think I will pull leaf 3&4 tomorrow and see how it is.
