Hi Everyone,
I am a new member to this form but have been using the information from the posts for years... I am from NJ and I use my 89 K5 for snow plowing. Last night when lowering the rear window I thought it cam off track as about 1/4 of the way down the left side would suddenly drop. I could get it to go all the way down if I used the key in the tailgate and held the glass level.... I took a look inside and it turns out that the cam channel that mounts the arm to the glass on the right side had rusted through. I manager to rig it together using some JB Weld to get me through this storm and I just ordered the 2 new cam channels, the window sash, and the rubber channel filler. Of course when I went to try and close it last night the window would not go up but thanks to another post on this forum I figured out it was the safety switch and how to bypass it.

My question for everyone is once my new parts deliver to me what do I need to know to remove the glass from the tailgate so I can replace the cam channels and sash. Also does anyone who has already done this job have any pointers beside don't break the glass?

Thank you wheels it says I have to upgrade to a premium account to view it but the LMC catalog has a pretty decent breakdown picture... I just know from experience that sometimes pictures don't tell the whole story until you've done it once before. =)

On my tailgate I had to remove both of the window trim to pull the window completely out. I'm working on the relay upgrade for the rear power window at this moment.

If it's in your budget, pay the $25 for a membership so you can enjoy all the benefits. Not just for the pics but other parts of the forum. If it's not in the budget, not a problem. We can still help. Just ask.

Thank you Wheels I'll make sure I remove them when I start. I'm going to upgrade when I get the funds at the end of the month. It will be sooner if it ever actually starts to snow...
