I need some help here. I have a 1986 K5 full size Blazer. My current gauges are jacked and need to be replaced. I've priced everything I need to get them working, and it's just as expensive to just buy new Auto Meter / Pro-Comp style gauges. Plus the new gauges will look "awesome.com". Here's my problem:

1.) I'm sure I am not the first person to do this as I have seen pictures on the Internet. What size gauges do I need to fit my current gauge holes.

2.) Do I need to buy a new gauge cluster panel for the gauges to "sit" in?

3.) Currently, my truck uses a circuit board to make the connections to the factory gauges. How will I connect my new gauges to the truck? How do I identify the wires that send the information to each gauge?

4.) Can anyone recommend a really good brand to stick with?

it is completely custom, cutting things, testing things, wiring things, etc

there are molded dash bezels that are already set up with gauges or ready to accept gauges. You will not be able to use your current dash holder that's behind the bezel.

lots of info through the search button, try different key words and "title only" function too. I've got some pictures in my build thread, but I did it way different than most. Was kinda happy with the outcome, but ended up getting a DIY4x dash.

or you can get a full custom dash set-up through me. I make them everyday. 76zimmer, olanchamedic and bhays have all gotten my dash panels with the gauges and wiring harnesses.

And they are a sweet setup too!
Mine will be going in BART (76 CC) in the spring sometime. I will post up some pics and dialog w/ installation then.

I was just about to say, get a hold of Ion, he does this **** for a living.

You have any pictures of them? I would definitely be interested.

I got the brushed aluminum finish with 2-5/8 guages; 5" electronic speedo and tach.

Does ion work for covans? I'm confused here...I didn't know he sold dashes.

To be honest, as much as the guages cost alone, and as many hours as it takes, I would probably go that route if I were doing it now. When I made my dash they did not compensate for the angle like they do now, it looks much more useful that way.

for as badarse as they are, I hope Kert's dash "look" doesn't get "played out".... I know he's sold a fair amount...

for me, I'm VERY glad I went a bezel route and kept the pad.... it was the ONLY thing I felt I could do to my interior to retain some "GM" look to it.... and with the console, I think it turned out pretty cool..

but I certainly think Kert's is a VERY attractive idea for anyone contemplating this these days.... just a nice start from scratch approach that allows ton's of layout flexability.... throw in Kerts "more than fair pricing" and it's a attractive avenue to head down...

I do indeed work for the old covans company, it is now called classic dash, I am the sales manager. I have also been authorized to give ck5 discounts, but to get that you will need to pm me with the details of what you want and i can let you know a price for everything shipped to you.

I really like Kerts setup on an offroad/custom truck, but am shooting for a mild resto mod look for my CC...thats' why I went with JJ's setup. Should be pretty bitchin' I think.
