So on my '83 the speedo went bad and I could easily replace that, but this would be a good time to consider switching from my present instrument cluster which has the warning lights and not the guages to one with guages. I would have to figure out some things to do it. I'm wondering if anyone has done this and how hard it is? Socket conecting the circut board to the wiring harness would be an issue wouldn't it? It all sounds like such a can or worms, but if it's not too hard it would be good to do.

It takes time, but to me it's fairly easy. Most of the wires I suspect (coolant temp, oil pressure switch) can be re-used, just splice a new connector on the engine side, and move (if necessary) the pin to the right spot on the cluster (IP) connector. Same goes with any of the other stuff...already has power and ground, the sender wires are all that would need adding that I can think of.

If you get a cluster, you might be able to get the IP connector that goes with it for reference, but it's not really necessary.
