Replace Suburban spare tire well with Blazer bed section?

I plan on aggressively trimming the bottom quarter panels on my Burb for extra clearance. Probably going to cut straight across from the wheel well to the bumper, roughly along the trim molding line. When I do this, the spare tire well will still hang down well below my new line, which defeats the purpose of extra clearance in the first place. So, has anyone ever removed the spare tire well (looks like it's just bolted on and some sealant) and replaced it will a flat bed section from a Blazer? Basically I just want a flat bed without the spare tire well.

i almost did that with mine. i'd like to see it done.

Why does it have to be from a K5? Wouldn't a section from a pickup bed floor or another part of a Sub floor work? I think there are also generic stamped panels in that wavy shape you could use.
