Replacement Dash sources?

I got mine from Brothers Trucks Dot Com. They have their pads on sale right now for 199 and the shipping was 28.00 instead of damn near 70! Sorry, I don't have enough posts to post a link so I spelled it out for you.

That is a very sharp looking, custom dash! I really like the stitching on the sides. Although I do like it (and the cost), I am more after the 'stock' look rather than custom. No doubt though, very nice and a great option!

Looks like you can get those vinyl dashes without the whole dash just the cover that you put on yourself. I would love a new dash but dang they are expensive

Any input on Dashes Direct? Still need to paint them but they are closer to $300 vs. $500 for OEM.

Here is a read on the install into a Mustang and seem to be pretty good fit and finish.

I ordered a reproduction dash through Classic Parts and it's a dashes direct product. I haven't installed it yet, but so far I am impressed. It looks and feels like the original. At the moment I don't see any fitment issues arising.

Does your new dash have any metal re-inforcement in it? That seems to be a complaint I've heard on the non-OEM units. It does sound like a decent dash though.

Are you going to paint it as well?

I'll check to see if there is any metal in it. No, I don't plan to paint it because I am going with black for the color of my new interior.

Well, I placed my order with "73-87 chevytrucks.com" for the Dashes Direct Dash.

Plan on dyeing it the grey color from factory. Any input on color matching code using "SEM"?? Only one spray can necessary?

Classic Parts recommended using "Medium Grey 31-821MG".......

I spoke with "SEM" and asked them what color would match my interior. I gave him my color code (82D) "Medium, Dk Grey" and he said I would need to have it mixed special and they don't sell it pre-made. The color formula was (4090) from SEM.

I found an outfit online that will mix it to SEM's formula and place it all in a can for $13.99 each. Spoke with them over the phone and very nice and helpful.

I'll post back my results.

I did get the replacement dash from "Dashes Direct".....looks very close to factory (can't tell the difference). :waytogo:

Good morning fellas, I'm bringing this topic back to the top with the same question as the OP. Has anyone used one of these dash pads and if so what is the repro quality? I really, really can't justify the 4-500 on one of these... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OER-...ke:Chevrolet|Model:Blazer&hash=item4cf5f30c3b
Any feedback would be appreciated and feel free to offer up some alternatives in this price range. Thank guys.

I would stay away from the urethane type (very wavy) ones and get at least a vinyl one. Dashes Direct has been used with others with decent success. Didn't work for me so I'm heading in the factory direction.
