Can anyone recommend a good replacement heater core. I tried one from O'Reilly's that didn't fit. The case would not close and the tubes were poorly positioned. So I got one from Autozone and had the same problem. The original GM core did not leak. But I intend to sell it so wanted to put a new core in. Thanks in advance.

I got mine from napa and it fit fine

Curious, what brand(s) did they end up selling you?

Autozone misleadingly shows a copper/brass heater core as an optional product, but the one review said it wasn't copper/brass, instead aluminum, as you'd expect as it was the same price as the aluminum one.

Spectra generally has a good reputation, but reviews I saw (can't recall if they were for the Spectra or others) stated again and again that they didn't fit properly. These were all the for the AC equipped ones, the hose ends are more complex bend/angle than the non-AC that I need, but that's still not an excuse for the manufacturers to not be able to make them correctly.

Well mine was the A/C version and it was aluminum but this was 6 years ago.
Maybe these days it's worse

The Autozone core was a Spectra Premium. I don't recall what brand the O'Reilly's one was. Summit Racing sells an OEM style brass core but it's twice the price of the others. I will try NAPA. Thanks.

I got one of the cheaper ones from Napa and had the same problem in my 90 burb. I had replaced the heater core in my 89 burb a while back with one from Napa and had no problems. The diverter deal was broke by a previous owner in my 90 burb. Being that I’m trying to get the 90 burb back on the road and going to make the 89 burb a crawler, I pulled the box out of it and stuck in the 90.
