I replaced the washer fluid pump in my first gen with an in tank pump from a '90 and it works awesome and sprays way more fluid than my old worn out pump. The problem is that the stock spouts shoot basically just a single stream at the windshield. I'd much prefer something that fanned out over the whole windshield like most modern cars do.

Anybody done an upgrade? What donor vehicle did you get it from?

Where are tehy on a 72? the later model has them on the wiper arms themselves. Easy retrofit, but they dont work great.

on the '72 they are mounted in the cowl and poke through.

Would be super easy to try clipping the later style onto the wiper arm, and see if you like them. No permanent mods would need to be done to test it, just extend the tube p to the wiper arm.

We use some of the "frog eyes" jets they used on old Mopars hoods on a few antiques we restored that had to have wipers and washers to pass inspection..the little "eyeball" in them can be adjusted using a pin to aim them to the right spot..they donr spray a fan stream, its a jet,but they wiorked good eniugh..

only problem putting the sprayer on the wiper arm is they freez up faster in the winter. i dont know if thats a problem or not for you but here, those suck

i need to do the same thing, currently all i have are wipers. the washer pump is part of the wiper motor, and i have the tube type sprayers between the cowling, but none of it is hooked up.

im going to hit a couple bone yards in my area and see if i cant find a reservoir with built in pump and heater from like a buick or caddy.

A lot of the newer tahoe's etc had heaters. That is a good call.

Unfortunatley, they had a lot of fires too. GM's recall consisted of them disconnecting the wires, and handing you a $100.:doah:

I think AlphaTherm came up with some improvements on the original design to mitigate the fire hazard. GM offered $100 back (if optioned on the truck originally) and a new Alphatherm unit was 80 shipped to my door...
