replacing d60 yoke

If one were to pull the carrier...there's no reason to pull the tires or shafts or anything

I'm just giving you a hard time by the way :)

Haha I was hopin no one would notice. I read back over the posts and when I read that I thought well that doesn't make any sense. No reason to pull tires. I also just realized I have a spare 14b in my basement that I can practice on. That way when I f something up its on the crappy one instead of my good one

I've been doing more research on the crush sleeve and have read two conflicting things. Some people say they start the crush sleeve in a press and then finish it off in the axle. However I read that once u start to crush the sleeve then release the pressure that it renders the sleeve useless. Would starting it on the press really cause that?

Starting it on a press is ok, so long as you don't crush it too much.

Great. Now when I start to crush it. How much am I looking to crush it while in the press? Just the smallest amount? Also is it gonna build pressure then just suddenly pop and start to crush or will it crush slowely and gradually as I apply pressure. Any recomendations as to whether it is easier to take the pinion out of the axle and do it or keep it all in the axle?

Are we still talking about a GM D60? There should be shims, not a crush sleeve there.

If it's for a 14 bolt, just get it started a little bit in the press.
