My 90 K-5 drivers door is really starting to drag on the bottom and is extremely difficult to close. I was told that the door hinge bushings needed to be replaced. So I went down to my local NAPA store and bought two GM door hinge repair kits, Item # 675-5143. So I thought that this would be an easy five minute job, pop out da old pin, replace the bushings and pop in the new pin. Boy was I wrong. I can’t get the old pin to pop out. How in gods name do you replace the pin and bushings? I really don’t want to remove the door. There must be a way to replace the door bushings w/o removing the door.

Thanks

Dan

The bottom of the pin is kept in place on the stock setups with a raised section IIRC. If you cut the pin in half, one half comes out the top and the other the bottom.

The actual replacement procedure has been discussed a few times. "Door hinge replacement" will probably net you a few posts.

i just did these on Tuesday.
just like was said, cut in half and push out.
then smack whats left of the old bushings out.
tap the new bushings in.
tap the new pin in.

it was easy when the door wasnt on.
it should be fun trying to do it with the door and the fender still on.

So you had to remove the doors ? I guess there is no real easy way of doing ot with the doors on ?

Thanks Dan..
