when you replace your door pillars, what are you supposed to do about the vin #s

The numbers are on the door or dash,or on the inside of the fender in the engine compartment..

our blazer is a 76 and the vin is only on the driver's side door pillar. We want to replace the door pillar because it is rusted out. What should we do?

Check with the DMV, hiway patrol or a local body shop.

Should be pop rivited on. It was on my 75. I drilled out the rivits and took it off for the repairs and re installed it when I was done.
