Ooops. Instead of simply lifting the round connector off the stud at the top of the fuel sending unit, my "helper" friend snipped it right at the butt thinking it was just a simple connector of some sort that could be purchased at autozone. Nope. Not going to happen. I see that pretty much every 70's thru mid-80's Chevrolet used what looks to be the same type of terminal connector that slides over the post on the top of the sending unit. Can I just buy one for a different model vehicle that is being made by a guy on eBay with the same connector and splice them together, or is there some reason that wouldn't work? Is it just a single wire, or multiple wires wrapped together?

If it has the rubber boot that snaps over a plastic insulator, the only place you'll probably find one is at a salvage yard, maybe a dealer sells a repair pigtail,or some aftermarket company like Dorman maybe..I think many GM vehicles used the same one in the '70's and '80's..
I'm pretty sure its a single wire one...all the ones I've dealt with were anyways..

You could probably use a similar connector found on Fords at the starter relay or solenoid, but it wont have the same rubber boot--I think old Fords and AMC's used that style on their ignition coil too, that had points..
