Replacing head light dimmer switch

Anyone change their column mounted dimmer switch? Drove my truck the other day in the rain. Along with leaks, whenI turned on the lights, the were stuck on high beam. :dunno:
 
The actual switch is at the base of the column. Not terrible, but a bit of a pain to get to. There is a metal rod that connects the lever up top with the switch at the bottom...the rod just sits in a "pocket" in the switch as I recall.
 
You might make it a bit easier by dropping the column. Look at what you are getting into first, if it looks like the screws that hold it in place are going to be a bear to get to, just remove the two nuts holding the column in place to the dash, remove the shift indicator needle, and it should drop down enough for easier access.

Verify the switch broke first, it's possible it may just have moved a bit, there is some adjustment built into the switch where it bolts to the column.
