How long should this take?
Where do I get a pulley puller?
Do I need a pulley puller? (I dont think pulley is on the new one)
Thats all the questions for now:D

1-1.5 hrs

Go to autozone, they have a pulley puller/installer kit in their loaner tools. You will need one.

You pay a deposit and then get a full refund upon return.

Hmmm well replaced power steering pump and the new one has a drip every 7 seconds at idle. Didn't see where from, probably the line that screws in because thats the only place where it could leak that I know of other than the rubber hose and it isn't leaking. Also it is making that really loud noise that power steering pumps do when they are bad or out of fluid...could it be that the fluid just hasn't gone into the lines yet?? Pretty darn frustrating:confused:

Fluid can leak from the front pump seal, the pump/reservoir seal, the attaching bolts for the reservoir (they have seals inside the reservoir between the pump and reservoir), the rear fitting, pressure hose, or the return hose.

Nice to know that. As far as the lucas power steering additive, it claims to stop leaks. Also it is making that high pitch hum noise and I would like to quiet it down. I am guessing I may have not used the recommended power steering fluid. What do you all use for ps fluid and what additives do you recommend? Thanks for the great info!

If its leaking, check your connections. If you can't stop the leak, take the pump back and get a replacement. I know it's a pain in the arse, but it's not uncommon to get a faulty reman pump. I run sysnthetic ps fluid with my hydro assist, but regular ps fluid will be just fine. Good luck and make sure you properly bleed the system before you start the engine to remove air and prevent new pump failure.

Edit- make sure you install the new O rings that come with the pump

I did not bleed the system
I did not install any O rings
That may be a couple of my issues.
The pump was new in a bag when I bought the truck...No idea where it came from so a replacement isn't really an option unless I go buy one...If the pump is making a noise can I remove it, bleed the system, and install new O rings to fix it or is it too late? Thanks for the help

Edit: also thinking of buying new lines just to make sure everything will be correct next time I do this. It took me like 3 hrs of work...But that was including about 8 or 9 beers lol

Did a quick google and bleeding the system will just involve me to loosen the high pressure line (the one with the metal screw) and let it drain some fluid, turn the steering wheel side to side a few times and tighten that line back up. This will release all of the air that is built up in there. Am I right?

Wrong, to bleed the system you simply jack the front wheels off the ground then cycle the steering full lock to lock about 20 times and then recheck and top off the PS fluid.

Engine on correct? And this should eliminate the noise that is coming from the pump I am hoping

I would take care of the leak before anything else. Install new high pressure line and install new orings. Fill with ps fluid, jack truck up, cycle steering lock to lock 20-30 times with truck OFF, top off fluid as needed, then crank truck and turn lock to lock. Try not to go all the way to either side. Top it off and check for any bubbles/froth in fluid.

Any recommendations of where to buy the high pressure line and O rings?

Edit: The prices are reasonable at oriellys, but do I have the conventional system or a hydroboost system?
What power steering fluid should I get? and is there a specific additive I should add?

In for info. Got the same high pitched whine going on too

I would like to add that my high pressure line did not have an o-ring on it that I even saw and it did not screw into the pump all of the way. I got about halfway and it wouldnt turn. I am excited to get off school and be wrenching on the blazer all next week to get it in perfect running condition (hopefully):D

Not sure about the line not fitting unless the oring is stuck inside the pump threads, not allowing the fitting to seat properly. If it were me, I would buy a new pump and line. The new pump comes with new O rings and you could test fit the line at the store to make sure it threads properly. Parts should only be $60-75. That way you will know that you have a good pump and leak free line. Use just regular PS fluid. Hope you get it figured out.
