Anyone replaced rod studs themselves? Talked to the guy who did my engine work, about the stripped rod stud. He gave me a new set of ARPs to replace all of mine. What should I do about installing them though? Never done that. I did the 2 in the cylinder that stripped by using a deep socket and my bench vise. It worked well. Just curious if there is some other way I should do it.

I do them at work just as you've said. Like i said though, anytime a fastener is changed in a rod the rod needs to be checked for sizing and resized if out of spec.

aware, cross that bridge as things go. Apparently the ones in the engine were not ARP studs. They are stamped, MSA. The nuts are noticeably thinner than the ARP ones. When I pulled the piston out that had stripped, the other stud which had felt fine, the threads on it were shot as well, just not as bad as the other one. Junk studs for sure.
