Anybody ever tackled this on their own? Most of the teflon is gone on the forks and I'm thinking about trying to repalce it myself. Any other tools needed beside a hammer and a drift punch?

IIRC there is a plug that you will need to knock out of the top cover in order for the rail to slide far enough to get the fork off of that rail. Besides a replacement for that plug, and the new shift fork it sounds like you have everything.

Thanks! I have an instruction manual, was just wanting feeback to make sure there weren't any surprises I needed to look out for!

A frined of mine where I grew up owns a transmission shop and has a set of 1-2 and 3-4 shift forks never used. He wants 75.00 for the set. I don't know if that is a good deal or not but with my schedule sometimes its worth it to buy them and do it myself cause I don't have time running around looking in the junk yards.
