So how do they handle the VIN tag? Do you need to have an existing one to transfer it?

And hopefully everything fits, since they built it all.

Think with T and A bodies you needed a tag. Otherwise could they issue a VIN?

If it's like building a custom motorcycle, they use an MSO ( manufacturers statement of origin).

When building a custom bike, generally pre-made parts are used. The company that builds the frame sends an MSO with it, so does the engine/engine case manufacturer and the transmission/transmission case manufacturer. Once the bike is built, you take it, the MSOs, and any other build receipts to the Highway Patrol inspector. The inspector checks it over, takes the MSOs, verifies them against the numbers stated into the frame, engine case, and transmission case, installs a VIN plate, and you are issued a title. Usually a special construction title, or something like that.

I assume it will be a similar process.

Dyna corn has a section on there site to help with state by state title info of what they know so far .

That sounds like it could possibly be expensive to insure. I don't have any experience or specific knowledge as of late, however years ago I had CSP officer tell me a little about how some vehicles would get assigned VIN numbers while I was checking out a custom truck. Stupid curiosity led me to call my insurance company, who at the time, told me of their requirements to insure a vehicle with an assigned VIN. It was expensive or not possible with them.
Not that I can afford one of those K5 bodies, so insuring it won't be a factor.
