After my last trip to the hills, I had a little bit too much fun in the mud. It turns out I mangled up the hard brake line on my rear axle a little bit. Now I could reroute the line to the top of the axle tube, but I'd like to remove it from the axle tube completely... I can see why it's setup like this from the factory (drums didn't require a braided line, thus it was cheap to split one braided line to the hard line on the axle).
Now that I have discs, I don't see the need for a hard brake line on the axle itself -- I have to run sections of braided hose for the calipers anyway. I'm thinking of splitting the line under the bed and running a hard line to the frame rails. From there, run stainless braided hose to my rear calipers -- just like the front. Has anyone here done this and have pics? I have the ORD stainless braided kit, and it uses 25" of line for the front calipers. I haven't measured yet, but I'm assuming that length will also work for the rear.
