My NP 208 on my 87 K5 is little more then seeping right below where the brace bolts to on passenger side.

Curious as never rebuilt a Chevy transfer case how hard is it to reseal, parts I should get, tips and tricks to resealing and making the job easier.

anyone have est time it should take roughly? Got a lift at work just gotta see if they will let me repair it there.

Or should I pick up a NP 241 my friend friend has from a 1990 i think is year and swap out.

It isn't too hard to take the back off and seal it up again, but I would wonder if there is a more serious problem. I had a 241 that someone over tightened the fill plug and cracked it. Check to see if that happened at the brace mount.

Remember that a '90 had electric speedo.

but i thought someone mentioned before you can swap end of it with the NP 208 and have a NP 241 with mechanical?

Not that I have ever heard. The tail section is different between the 2.
The 241 mechanical speedo was '89 only.
You can put those parts on a VSS case.
I have the parts to do that conversion for sale, but apparently my price is high.

Called a old co-worker/friend who owns his own Transmission shop and her offered to reseal it for free if I took it out and brought it by. Hoping to remove tomorrow after work and drive to his place a hour away Thursday after work.

He was saying something about a updated snap ring for the 208.

Anything should check for while case split? I plan on leaving it with him if needs more then a reseal.

Got the call this morning transfer case resealed and ready to pick up cost $ is just seals labor = 0

Should have it back Monday night and reinstall Tuesday night hopefully.

Got it back resealed for the $30 bucks in parts! But can not install till Saturday at earliest with so much going on this week! Watching kids tonight, tomorrow gotta go get wife a B-day present,Thursday her B day,Friday Dinner with no kids yes a baby sitter and Saturday work!

Truck is at work since lift is there and have to install new transmission lines (another story where they blew out in snow we had) and install fuel filter while there.
