OK...seriously...no jokes...what can I do to revive my old wood?

Skip that, I thought you said remove.

And I already had thought of Madeline Albright....fully clothed....

you can polish it.... the bezel that is... :haha:

if it's really bad start with a little clearcoat compound, but I would try a polish first, 3M Finesse It to be specifac...

pull the bezel out... about 6 or 8 screws iirc.... put it on a towel so it doesn't move around, and have at it... careful machine polishing would be best, but it can be done by hand, Finesse It on a damp wax pad or damp rag...

Would have to be careful with a machine because I can tell that the wood is fragile...almost like balsa wood..

ummmm, it's plastic... I have one up in the attic...

no, i just said that to be funny....

yup, similar to polishing a modern headlight lense....

I meant to say thanks...I am just feeling ignorant for thinking it was real wood....:screwy::blush:

eh, consider it a good thing.... wood is a maintenance nightmare... i should know, I work on boats every day.. :doah:

Don't tell anybody, but I was in lowes today looking at Homer Formby's Minwax stain....

if ya get bored one day, just get a rag and some polish, sit in the truck and work on an easy spot to see how it comes up..... been awhile since I looked at it, but I'm pretty certain it's a true plastic and not a vinyl overlay, iirc... but either way, it'll polish..

I may get a small pad for the drill....I got a bad rotator cuff thing running down my right arm, elbow and wrist...
I don't know if anybody local has that 3M stuff...is that a boat/marine product?

auto or marine... started out as an autobody product.... let's see... obviously an autobody supply place will have it... some auto parts stores carry it... marine stores... maybe pep boys, etc...

and sure, maybe one of those buffballs on a drill or something...

So, here's another question. Anyone do anything to "restore" the late 80's "wood" trim in a silverado? Its basically the equivalent of decals, or painted on wood on the horizontal trim pieces. But mine is starting to fade :(
