So the Buick had been floundering for years in limbo while we decided what to do with it, would I fly back to CA and drive it home or would my dad keep it a while longer. Well he wanted to work on the house so we decided to get it out of the yard while that happened. My friend owns a shop in Hollister CA called American Custom & Classics that specializes in pre 1973 cars. We had it towed down there for what we thought was just going to be a tune up and brake work. Well after the assessment they found that the engine had low compression and a dead cylinder we had the 401 Nailhead engine pulled and decided to get it rebuilt. We are using T/A Performance pistons and a bigger cam in the rebuild. New electronic ignition and a new 750 cfm edelbrock carb. We have consulted Centerville Auto repair on some. Nail head rebuild tips and help. https://www.nailheadbuick.com/

The brakes were shot and in need of a total rebuild, the brake booster was rebuilt and all new brake lines and hardwear was used. The drums were turned and painted.
The front suspension got a new shocks, steering box and centerlink and a few other parts.
We also had the engine bay cleaned via pressure washer and wire wheel then painted. The rims were sand blasted and re painted. The interior is going to get new carpet, metal parts of the dash repainted and few other things.

Great to see it coming back to life!
Looking forward to more pics!

Fuel tank looks in good condition, the fuel gauge does not work so they are going to check out why, the exhaust is a horrible hack job. I want to replace it. IMG_4607.jpgIMG_4608.jpgIMG_4609.jpgIMG_4610.jpg

That's one of them newfangled variable valve timing engines. Or is it a displacement not on demand. LOL
