I'm building an 84 Chevy Pickup and I'm trying to go with a retro/new style truck, the best of both worlds. Anybody have a picture/pictures of Chevy/GMC trucks they wheeled/drove back then. I found a set of old school deep dish wheels and that just lit a firestorm of ideas you might say. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My stepside is kinda retro its got a square tube chrome grill deep dash "mags" chrome double tube Bumper

Go to OFF ROAD DESIGN's Website and go to their YARD SALE or USED Parts forsale section. Theyve got a built stepside they are parting out, but it might give you an idea or two.

I always liked the 70's body line. My dad had a 78 Big 10 , I know only a two wheel drive but it was a hoss. That's where my love affair with Chevy and GMC trucks got started.:D

I grew Up on a steady diet of 70's and 80's Solid axled GM's, Dodge's, and Ford's .

I have to say the 73-80 gm's look better to me than the 81-91 gm's I like round headlights

I like the interior of the 81-up trucks and the body of 79 and back trucks. In my family/friends we had the whole collection. 84 Burban, 76 k5,76 k5, 83 sierra classic, 78 custom deluxe, 84 k10, 84 k20, 84 k20, 80 k10 , 76? chevy c10, 81 c10, 84 c10, 85 c10.lol We had a lot of older dodge and ford trucks back in high school. 73 dodge powerwagon 4x4, 71 ford f100 4x2.

haha yeah I like the 73-80 dash better
while I haven't caught up to Mountainexplorer on the Dana 60 count I do have a ridiculous amount of 4x4's gm,ford, dodge, toyota, Jeep ,IH pretty much anything I think is cool and the price is right lol its a serious addiction that has reached a critical point LOL I have close to 30 vehicles in New Mexico 7 here in Alaska and close to 30 in Minnesota

If I had my way I'd find a clean late 70's swb chevy 4x4 to use as resto rig and use the 84 as a mud truck.:D

My DD for a years was my Stepside now I DD my Brown truck or My Dodge . The Stepside is all torn apart I'm gonna smooth and Box the frame and powdercoat it and the axle housings Semi-gloss black as well as the Tranny and t-case . redo some of the Body work and paint it back to the same color it is now basically just a "HYPER" detail of the whole truck.

duno if this is ok, here goes

my truck is an 83 swb silverado.....i changed the rad support to 91 gmc, then the bed to 95 gmc z71 stepside.....i wanted it to be a injected 350 but instead did a 350 .040 over ....about 425 hp or so, then put in an 80 sm465/np205, 1974 14 bolt with detroit locker, 85 dana 60.....then 37 12.5 16.5 hurricanes, 8inch superlift...sorry 4 rambling on........but a lot feel the body upgrades suck...lol...some pics are muddy sorry 4 that, the fenders doors and hood will be going i have new ones that get changed shortly.........

To each their own. I was gonna upgrade to a stepside bed like your's at one time but decided it would be cheaper to keep what I had for awhile longer until I could find a solution(the whole bottom half of the bedside between the cab and bed was dented in alll the way to the tank). I just bought a bedside. I do like your truck btw.

i looked all over for pics of the bed on my style truck b4 i put it on....i only got it because mine was patched over and over and rust is a large issue here, i thought that the price..super cheap would work for me and the sides are fiberglass....that solver the rusty bed sides... and thankyou....

I've seen dodge beds used, late model fleetside gm, ford. I'm still trying to find either a stepside or square gas tank opening bedside.

those sides are hard to come by , i looked here and called they have no hole or round hole sides.....i have 2 swb sides but they are rotted and have flares on them, they wont help ya....

I see classic parts has them in their catalog but they weren't in stock last time I checked. I just am gonna cut out the opening of the old bedside and possibly weld it onto the new bedside? I have dual tanks but the driver side doesn't work anyway but I figure someday I'll get it working and it would be nice to be able use it.
