Retrofit roof rack or custom basket?

I finally got my 89 burb rolling again and it came from the factory with a bare roof. I am undecided on what to do with it. I'd like the roof setup for hauling multiple things, skis, bikes, lumber, ladders, and extra cargo space.

I've had two ideas of finding or building a custom roof rack basket with mounts to haul specific things or see if I can go to the junk yard and retro fit a factory roof rack off a newer burb which I can put ski racks on a possible roof box which would be swappable with my 07 burb.

I would go with something custom built,I think by the time you retrofitted a rack ,you could have fabbed up one yourself that in the end you would be much happier with

Hmm gonna have to take a peek at his again. I think he made his out of square stock. I can cut and weld but not a fabricator like some. Would be nice to have a high lift mounted on the rig.

I don't want a big rack that looks like scaffolding on top of my rig or a shopping cart.

I do like how low profile this one looks.

I may need to open up my 3d program. I'm starting to think of a design that had a low profile basket in the back and up front has cross bars for mounting universal roof rack accessories like ski racks bike mounts and roof boxes.
