Last year I made the mistake of getting rid of my beat up tired 73 blazer and getting a 89 ramcharger (talk about poor gas mileage (8mpg)) after all it put me thruogh to keep it running I decided I wanted a G.M. again preferably noncomputerized. So I bought a 75 jimmy unfortunately it was about a 120 miles away, well on the way home it overheated and also blew the transfer case (the po had installed locking hubs without doing the partime kit) So now I have to have it towed home about a 100 miles and figure out what all need to be fixed replaced.

Well, I guess you WONT make that mistake selling your GM again right lol! That sucks dud, sorry to hear your new purchase is getting off to a bad start. Chalk it up to a life lesson I guess. Get it home and go to work on her. This was not going to be a DD was it??

I still have the dodge but I was planning on getting rid of it and useing the jimmy but now I'll just have to wait a little longer before getting rid of it, but at least now I have a full convertable just needs work I will eventually get rid of that dodge.

Well got it home last night, started checking it out today. Tried starting it and it wouldn't start, then I notices water leaking from a weld on the exhaust near the collector, checked my oil and it was over full so drained crankcase and there was water there too. So hopefully it is just a blown head gasket have to tear into it and see. Still think I blew the transfer case too as there seem to be a lot of gear oil leaked all over.
So looks like I got to keep driving the ramcharger for awhile but at least now I have a pretty much straight rust free 75 jimmy project to work on for a while though it was kind of expensive I still like it.

Yes. Perfect time for a complete 454 and a Atlas 2 transfer. put that on some 38's and go tear down some trees and rocks. ;)

nice lookin truck.sorry it is blowing things up though.new engine and transfer case and you should have a nice runnin truck.hopefully it is just a head gasket.a new 350 wont be too expensive to replace.even if it is cracked head, get new ones that flow better and be good.

well tore into it some and it is more than just the head gasket, one piston has damage to the face (detonation maybe) cylinder don't look too bad, but I think right now I'll just buy a used engine ( a local junkyard has some still in vehicles so I can hear it run) then maybe rebuild this one later or just sell it as a core.

well I got the used engine in it now fires up but it is loud, need to hook up the exhaust. replaced header because the ones that were on the truck were cracked in a couple spots, unfortunately the full length headers I got are longer and lower (though fit better) so I have to modify the exhaust on the right side and reposition it on the left. So I am getting closer to being able to get rid of my dodge. But this is getting to be one expensive c.u.v. (classic utility vehicle) but it will be worth it in the end.

Got it up and running and on the road, so now it looks like I can get rid of my dodge. Nice to be driving a old G.M. again, love the feel and sound of a chevy 350 (especially through headers and dual exhaust)

Still need a transfer case? I have an np208 on CL in that area. Welcome to CK5 too btw.
