I am overhauling a 3/4 ton d44 and I was wondering if I can reuse the old shims (I did not change out ring and pinion). I may or may not have dinged up a few upon removal . It seems to me that they will be re-flattened when I put them back in and tighten everything down anyway...is this true?

My bearing kit didn't come with shims, if I need to get some do normal parts stores sell shims separately?

Is it likely that I will have to add/subtract shims if I only replaced bearings and seals?

Thanks

You can reuse the shims, just make sure that none are bent/folded over because that would change the setting.

Thanks 4x4high. Some had a kink in them, so I smoothed the crease with a rubber hammer...they seem ok, but I am not a micrometer...

use em or lose em?

What about my other questions?
