I bought an open carrier with some 4.56 gears on it for a FF14bolt and I took it appart to put a detroit inside. I heard that you can't reuse ring gear bolts and wondered why? gears look pretty new no pitting or wear and everything cleaned up real nice.

just thinking hell put some thread lock on there and torque em up!

When I put the lockers in my other truck, I reused the bolts and didn't have any problems and had the truck for 10 yrs. I threadlockered them.
Tarey

Technically, it is the same argument as with not reusing bolts for other applications - stretching, fatigue, and a bunch of other stuff. With that said, I have reused ring gear bolts in some applications, when in a pinch, including on my truck, and Rockwell and Eaton rears in semis. No problem with them failing yet.

ditto, on 4 occasions....no failures...YET.
