Hi,

anyone got a good, working rev counter for a 79 Blazer? Some guy I know is looking for such a thing, maybe there's somebody here who wants to get rid of his, if you got one, just pm. Payment via paypal/shipping USPS Airmail is no big deal.

Thanks and greetings from Bavaria

Flo

I believe that would be called a Tachometer over here. Very rare to find the factory tachs, but they are out there.

I guess if I had an address maybe I could see what it would be...Don't think I ever shipped anything overseas before without an APO/FPO box. (military)

Flo, is your friends truck gas or diesel? The stock tach's only work with the gas motors without modification...

Hey guys,

thanks a lot for your help! hehe, well, a tachometer over here (it is exactly the same word in german btw.) is a speedometer in the USA :wink1: ...crazy s... ok, so I need a tachometer, for a 79 K5 (6.6l gas engine) Blazer, I do not need the full instrument cluster, just the gauge.
Shipping really is no big deal, my zip code is 94227, I really get a lot of things on the internet and have them shipped over here. (even big parts, but that is another story)

@sweetk30:
hey, that is really sweet :D:D:D thanks a lot for the kind words.

I assume the tach gauge should look like that on the pic (don't know what gauges they used before the 80s series)
Thanks a lot and greetings

Flo

p.s. did they offer these tachometers on the diesel trucks too? I didn't see a 6.2 diesel equipped with a tach, maybe there are just too many ex-army trucks over here.

The pic that you have is out of a big truck, AKA C60 C70 etc.

Here are the ones that I have....

I do not need the full instrument cluster, just the gauge.

The gauge clusters are different from the standard ones without the tach. There is a square hole in the back for the tach wiring to pass through along with a different circuit board. You can buy the circuit board new from LMC, but not the plastic housing.

That being said, you can probably just cut/drill a hole in the back of the plastic housing for the wiring and buy the correct circuit board new. The tach fits in place of the fuel gauge in a standard housing.

There is also a small fuel gauge available in the tach clusters that you may want to buy at the same time.

The very bottom cluster is from a 79 I believe. Has mech. oil gauge and volts over amps gauge. It's in pretty good condition, just has one tab busted off where they all do. I'd like to get $150 for it.

You can put just the tach gauge in a non-tach housing. Just need to cut a small hole from the 3 wires to go thru. I did this to my old truck. Biggest thing is the fuel gauge and circuit board, you need one for a tach setup or re-wire it.

Hey guys,

sorry for the late reply, didn't get a reply of the guy who's interested in the speedo for quite a time. 150$ is a fair price i think but it is too expensive for him, well, I watched a few auctions on ebay.com an these clustes sell for about 100 - 200 $ , I told him but he didn't believe me. thanks a lot for your offer, I'll send you a pm if he changes his mind but i don't think so.

Greetings

Flo

So in that nice collection of gauges, would you have an extra working tach to sell? I just want to replace my broken tach, not the whole cluster.

I know I have a couple of gauges with issues, some with bad circuit wiring on the backside. I could sell just the tachs themselves....

Yeah, the rest of my cluster is fine, so I wasn't wanting to buy a whole cluster, just a tach. If I could get one from a junk cluster, it would seem less wasteful and likely cheaper.
