Reverse light bulbs – 50 watt

I am going to look for some tomorrow, will let you know if I find them :woot:
Thanks man.

A year or so ago when I was DDing it someone on here gave me a couple part numbers and I looked EVERYWHERE. No parts stores had it and I frankly got the "what's he going to ask for next...muffler bearings?" look a few times.:doah:

Anybody willing to get me a set or two of these and send them to me? I'll pay for everything and your time as well. I bet a search this year would be as fruitless as it was last year.
Right here, buddy!

Thanks man. Have to get some through Amazon. Never thought to look on there.

I've seen the ones on JCWhitney but ouch...they were like $34 in my hands a year ago. Found a local "automotive accessorizer" that had them last year but their stuff looked like someone had taken a normal 1156 bulb, ripped off the glass, and then jammed a Christmas light bulb in the base and goobed craft glue on it. Bulbs weren't even centered...oh...and $25 plus tax.

WOW, i KNOW i didn't spend $23 on each bulb.

on those other links, it looks more realistic at about $8-9, but i still don't remember what i spent on mine, didn't even think it was that much.

I have to run to the parts store later, i'll check too n the prices and availablity.

Yeah, I can remember paying like $8-10 for a pair from my local NAPA...but that was ten years ago.

Not a blazer etc, but my DD s10. I needed more light and switchable powered light. I have tint, dark driveway to back up in, dark street to back out in, and trailers to tow. So I started with 50w bulbs from Stylintrucks (I think). They weren't much help, I don't recommend those. Then some cheap piaa driving fog lights. Unfortunately the only ones I liked had blue lenses, but I wanted it tucked up as much as possible, so they don't look like :poo:. Used the kits relay and some extra wires with shielding; added my own small led switch in the dash. What I have are driving lights. I like them cause they point down the road a bit, but for my blazer I'm going to do floods since it will be up so high.

Some people ask why I don't just run them off the reverse wires. Well, I like to switch them on when wiring or working on the trailers etc. I also launch boats, which requires most of my bumper to be under water :doah:. I recommend not dunking lights, while on, under water:haha:. The last pic is fogs only.

Ideal for me would be lights in the bumpers. However that's not likely to happen.

I've drug my hitch just goofing around at my buddy's farm in the creek and a few other places so I don't want to hang anything under the bumper. Don't expect it would last long.

When i get around to doing mine, i'm going to mount them up in the space under/inboard of the rear quarters. Get a good bright light, point down and out and 45˚ angles....

Should be bright, and out of harm's way.

Yeah but could you get enough angle to get it out far enough? I want to be able to see further back in addition to just what is directly behind it.

Only way to find out is to try, but i bet i could.

I DO NOT want them visible from behind.

I would like to do something similar, but I'm thinking of cutting some openings in my bumper to mount the lights flush. That way they won't get damaged unless someone runs into me ...

Love the look of the recessed lights in aftermarket bumpers, but don't think a hole-sawed hole in my stock bumper would look very good.

Someone try it and tell me :thumb:

...and me.

If i can find a cheap stock bumper, maybe i'll get a holesaw set and start punching holes.....

After driving my parents 07 tahoe, I'm REALLY temped to put in a backup sensor system, which would require a series of 1" holes in the bumper.....

Once the weather warms up and I get a die grinder I'll give it a shot. I found some rubber edging which I am planning on putting on the edge of the opening. The only thing I have to look at is how I am going to mount the lights in the bumper. Of course the lights I have use a special plastic bracket which is so compact I can't angle it much, which means I may not be able to mount it in the bumper easily. I want to mount it from the bottom so the bolt does not stick out the top. I could do the top using a carriage bolt, but then I am not sure I can get a nut into the mounting bracket of the lights I have.

LMC recently started selling a bumper with cut-outs and combo fog/driving lights for the front (the lights which I already have a variant of but which are larger) but I want lights for the rear also and they don't have that bumper.

So, anyway, once it warms up I'll hack it up and see what happens. :)

for those that want to just replace the stock bulbs with 50 watts like I did - there is no need to pay anymore that $8-9 for a pair. I just got them at O'Reileys - Eiko 1156 - 50 watt
