I went from my 87 V-10 to 72 Chevelle, an 05 Corolla, an 00 Cherokee, and once again I'm back in my big truck.

Way back when I began collecting parts for a 14-bolt FF swap. I also have two front 10-bolts, one of which I'll clean up and swap in with the big rear. I had the spring perches moved to fit my half ton springs. I got 4.10 gear sets and master install kits for both axles. I have the 8-lug outers for the front.

What else am I going to need to do?

Can I fit 15" rims over the stock drums or do I need something bigger?

If I do the disc brake swap, I know what calipers and rotors I need but what have you guys don't for an e-brake?

Crossover steering was a fairly new term when I got my truck, as best I can remember. What options do we have for such a setup now?

I'm sure I'll think of more to ask... :doah:

Welcome back to the addiction! :thumb:

There has certainly been plenty posted here over the last 10 years that you were gone, and literally hundreds of people have done 1-ton swaps and crossover steering so pour yourself a hot cup of coffee and get ready to spend a few hours reading existing posts and checking out build threads....

If you still have questions after your big cram session, we can fill in the details for ya!

Yeah, somehow I keep finding myself back in this oversized, overpowered truck. I bought a house last year and I'm getting married next year so my project funds are limited but if it's going to be a DD, it needs that 14-bolt in ASAP as it has a habit of chewing up the spiders gears. I was lucky once years ago and everything settled quietly to the bottom of the diff. Last time it spit out the driveshaft.

I did some skimming last night and the searches really didn't yield a lot of solid answers. I'll dig in with Google this weekend but I know lots of people have the best links bookmarked. If you have suggestions for search terms or links for specific threads, please share! :thumb:

Remembered another question: do we have a good hack n tap SYE we can get? Should it spit out the DS again, it would be very nice to be able to lock in the front hubs and drive home without puking ATF everywhere plus right now I have a 1" t-case drop I'd like to ditch.

87 V10 would have the 208, look into a 241 and swap it in. There are SYE kits available for the 241 and it's a pretty easy install. The 208, it's possible to SYE, but it isn't easy to find the needed parts.

Best search terms are "The Driveway". :waytogo:
