My windshield gasket (original '91?) seems to be in really good shape but it's "chalky". It's still soft and no cracking but when you handle it black stuff (technical term) comes off on your hands. Is there anything y'all can suggest to clean it with?

It is the carbon black in the rubber coming out of the gasket--doubt anything will stop that for long, you could try using a rubber lube like Ru-Glyde on it and see if that helps,or some tire cleaning product..silicone spray might help "cover" it and keep the black from getting on you...
Its like vinyl siding on a house--after many years,it starts chalking like that,if you rub against it you'll get a nice stain on your clothes the same color as the siding..
