Rewiring starter/battery/alternator

I know there's a way to rewire teh starter / battery / alternator so that the wire going (currently) from the alternator to the starter like a 14 guage is biggger and goes directly to the battery... can some one explain this to me... or is it not possible... they do this in stereo shops on cars with high wattage amps... PLease help...

I think all that is required is a new battery cable. The kind that has that extra little pigtail w/ the crimp on but connector on it. Than all you do is remove it from the starter cut off the end and crimp it to the new cable.
