I am thinking of doing this to the floor in my suburban for ease of cleaning. Anybody done this? I am mostly curious about interior noise level of bedliner vs. carpet or rubber floor mat.

I had no carpet in one of my jeeps and it didnt affect the noise level so I wouldn't worry about that. I think the bedliner looks better and you can spray it clean :waytogo: If youd like to see the pics look at my other DIY bedliner thread

Mines pretty loud without the carpet. I want to do bed liner. I've heard it helps with sound deadening a lil bit. It's nowhere close to the carpet with the foam pads underneath though.

My entire body is Line-X'd inside and out. It's tolerable, but definitely louder than with carpet. What really gets ya is the little rocks that get thrown off the tires and hit the body underside somewhere.

Question for those who have lined the entire body. Do you take the body pieces off like in a traditional paint job or just tape and spray with everything attached to the vehicle? What about things like mirrors, flares, lights, etc? Do you take those off or leave those on and spray around them?

my last suburban had a ratty old rubber floor, with no insulation under it, and no headliner. It was noisy, but not as bad as I would have figured.

do you think the bedliner would be as quiet as the factory rubber floor mat?

it sucks when you try to make a vehicle work for too many different applications.
this one is:
my daily driver....hunting rig.....tow rig....family "expedition vehicle"...spare for when the wifes suburban doesnt work.
so basically the carpet gets trashed, and it is a pretty nice truck overall, and needs something a little tougher on the floor.

Rhino lined mine a few years ago and I love it. It is a little louder and you'll feel the transmission heat more but well worth it if you ask me.

I had mine done about 15 years ago. It is louder than it was with carpet/pad, but doesn't have that "inside of a 55 gal drum" it had with no carpet. If you like to drive barefoot you will notice the trans tunnel is much hotter.

Over all I'd say do it. The only down side I've seen is that the colors fade as time goes by.

I bed lined all my interior (see my build thread for pics) and ran it that way for awhile. Noise wasn't too bad, rocks hitting the wheel well were the worst.

In front I added some insulation and put vinyl on top and then the back got just vinyl. I love it, noise isn't bad, looks sharp, if the lining gets damaged you just spray more on and the vinyl is super tough. That might be a route you take to avoid carpet.
