Question for y’all - I took notice on a pic from the classified section of a later model ribbed 14Bolt and it had a pipe drain plug.

I’m just curious if that was factory or not - it’s easy enough to drill one but it caught my attention and wondered if GM started using them at some point ?

Can anyone with any GMT400/800 and up ride confirm this ?

Thanks, Tom

All of the vans at work with 14b have them, I think it started with the ribbed housings

It’s definitely a change in the housings, the early ribbed housings in the later squares didn’t have drain plugs.

I will check my 98 tomorrow.
I am sure my 2003 should have it,it's disc brakes.

It can be found in the regular 10.5 14 bolt ribbed housing and the 11.5 aam.

There's also a couple different ribbed housing 10.5BFF versions aside from the drain plug no drain plug thing. You can find 4" tube versions of the late model 10.5 under upfitter, cab and chassis, or van applications too.
