Ride height and clearance

What's y'all's opinion on what ride height is good. I've always assumed lower the better for running across the desert. Almost so much that I'm thinking spring under front and rear are best options for pure dedicated prerunning stuff.
 
Yes being low will help with handling but going spring under I believe helps control axle wrap so you don't get wheel hop.
 
A pre runner on leafs have enough limits in speed I'm not sure it really matters a lot. Spring rates and dampening are going to be more important than ride hight. And with spring under, you've really limited what else you can do with it. I built a pre runner that now crawls more than it runs.
 
Just because you went to KOH doesn't mean you are allowed to rain on our parade.. Who am I kidding if I really wanted to go fast beams are cheap and easy and work good enough..
