Ridge's 1972 c10 lwb

Well I have been out of town for work since Thursday (have put in near 60 hours the last 3 days) so my plans to work on the truck this weekend were crushed. Was finally able to get home today and had some goodies waiting on me.

Looks like I may be heading back out of town tonight for who knows how long...

Finally got my tach installed tonight.

Ran out daylight before I could get the other pages installed. I thought the gauge in the dash for the oil pressure had been changed to electric but it is still in fact mechanical. Any idea as to why the pressure could be so high? It seems to settle down to normal after about 10 minutes of driving.

Hope to get the other gauges installed tomorrow while my fiance is at work. After seeing the mess of wires the PO has created under the dash... that will most likely be my next focus area.

Have a lead on a possible parts truck about 2 hours from me for $1500

If it really is rust free and the front clip is in good shape I think I would come out ahead. Possibly just a motor swap into this one. Should be getting more pictures this afternoon hopefully it goes my way. It does however look like there is rust in the drivers side rocker but we will see.

Also this showed up at my door the other day!

I have been contemplating converting it to a short bed after finding this on Craigslist:

He also has a cab and both fenders and core support, would include the axle but not the suspension setup for $850 but is willing to negotiate.

Looks like both rockers have already been replaced quality is unknown he says there are some small holes remaining but nothing major.

Never heard back from the guy with the complete truck minus an engine so we will see what happens.

A bit of a friendly warning...I've been hanging around here for about 7-ish years and I've never once heard of anyone who bought a "almost rust free" first gen and then had it actually turn out to be rust free. If it was from Arizona, you might have a chance but I think you'd have an even better chance at the lotto. :) Don't worry, all of them are like that. It just depends on how much back to original you want to make it. Check out some of the threads in the first gen forum to see how far into it you will probably have to get if you really want to repair the damage.

Also another bit of a warning... $750 in labor sounds waaaaaay too cheap to do much of anything except spread some bondo over the rust. If you do hire it out, make sure you are very explicit in what you want replaced and how it's done.

Thanks for the advice I went away from hiring it out. Wound up purchasing this instead:

I am in the process of building my first house right now so the build will be fairly inactive for a majority of this year. However once I get settled I am hoping to start pulling it apart repairing and modifying. Still don't have an exact plan for it but I have plenty of time to figure it out.

Finally got my house built and have been so busy building fences planting grass and all the other goods, I haven't even had time to get the garage prepped and ready to bring the truck home yet. But I do have some pics of her new home for you guys.

Garage is still full of fencing materials and my fiancé's furniture projects. Hopefully in another couple weeks I can have the fences built drive way extended and a c10 in the garage!

Made it over to the truck today and found out the keys were lost. I was able to use a slim jim to get the door open in hopes the keys were inside. No such luck. Now I have to figure out how to remover the ignition cylinder/switch without a key... so far the only methods I've found to do this is drill the cylinder out or beat it out. Neither of which sounds fun. So if any of you guys know a better way let me know!
