So in light of my Makita batteries taking a dump. I have been looking for some replacements.

For the price of two batteries give or take I can get the same set up but in Ridgid.

They have the lifetime warranty, as far as I can tell the Ridgid are the only ones that do.

Rather like the Makita it is not that old and both batteries are shot.

Are Ridgid's worth a dime or should I suck it up and plan on buying a new Makita battery every few years.

I've worked with people in the past the used cordless rigid in the past and have had a bad battery ruin the tool they were using, but this was a few years ago. I've always had good luck with Dewalt and know a few guys that really like Hitatci.

Good luck with my Rigid lithium battery driver. Good battery life, plenty of power for 3 1/2" deck screws. Came with a smart conditioning charger and I haven't seen any battery degradation in the two years I have had it.

I think they would work pretty well then. They guys I work with have to send them in all the time for warranty. But they're getting used hard, on a daily basis. For that type of use, I'd reccomend something better like dewalt or Milwaukee.

the early ones had battery problems. i had mine replaced a few times, the newer ones are working real good. and my drill is going strong yet. make sure you fill in the paper work for the life time warrenty.

Have you looked into having a company like Batteries Plus "re-core" your original batteries?

I looked into it. If you get a half way decent deal on new batteries on Ebay, you can get makita original's for close to the same price.
